Weymouth bits are used in conjunction with a Bradoon in a double bridle. The Weymouth bit encourages collection and flexion. The curb of the bit applies additional pressure to both the tongue and the poll, encouraging the horse to collect. Weymouth bits are often, though not always, made of materials that will encourage salivation and relaxation into the collection.
