This is a Ported Beris Flexible Loose Ring horse bit which allows for tongue mobility without losing effectiveness. It is a great alternative for strong horses with sensitive mouths.  The flexible mouthpiece allows for a relaxed mouth and encourages salivation and chewing.

An unjointed bit/straight bit often works sharper than a single or double-jointed mouthpiece. The shape of the mouthpiece determines the pressure in the mouth. Straighter and thicker mouthpieces produce more pressure on the tongue.
